Reviews– The Canon Pixma iP100 is portable photo printer that can print text documents. It is printed on the paper business card to A4 size and comes with a large battery for traveling.
Not cheap, but we think it offers excellent quality and is a rare find in a market producing photo printers print just 10 x 5-inch photos.
Excellent photo printing
Let’s start with text printing. We expected printing documents to be an afterthought, but it was fantastic for a small printer of this type.
The text was fresh and presentable even 4-point font size and much larger units put to shame. Printing is slightly slower than in larger machines around the same price, but not so slow as to be inconvenient.
Two sheets of our standard test document printed in 20 seconds. The photo print side is equally impressive. Our test print 10 x 15 cm was done in 53 seconds. The skin tones, contrast and detail were all good. The battery is good for 300 prints which seemed generous to us.
Superior accumulation
The build quality is up to Canon’s usual high standards and the control panel has only two buttons, to suit people who just want a photo back without any problems.
The printer has two USB ports, one to print from a camera via a cable, and one to connect to your Mac. No Bluetooth connection in the box but a safety device can be purchased to enable it.
The only persistent omission is the lack of slots or LCD camera card, let alone an LED. For a printer designed for travel, these features have been helpful. Just remember to pack USB cable from the camera.
Overall, we liked this printer. It performed well enough to be a desktop or laptop printer. Speed and construction are big and printing is excellent for both photos and text. A rare gem.
